No.
Sometimes the distinction is clear, but professional and personal difficulties often overlap. If you are unsure which approach would be most useful, we can discuss this when you first contact me.
Broadly, psychotherapy tends to focus more on emotional difficulties, relationships, recurring patterns and understanding yourself more deeply. Coaching is usually more focused on professional questions, decisions, leadership and ways of working.

Psychotherapy can help with anxiety, low mood, stress, burnout, relationship difficulties, loss, low confidence, recurring patterns of behaviour and periods of significant change. You do not need to be in crisis or have a diagnosis to benefit from therapy.
When we are too close to our own experience, it can be difficult to see what is keeping us stuck. Psychotherapy creates space to step back, gain a broader perspective and develop a deeper understanding of the thoughts, feelings, patterns and ways of coping involved. From there, we can explore different ways of responding and make changes that can have a meaningful impact.

Executive coaching is a focused, collaborative process for exploring professional challenges, decisions and development.
It can help with leadership, transitions, difficult working relationships, confidence, performance and questions about how you want to work or lead. The aim is to gain perspective, understand what may be getting in the way and identify practical ways forward.

It can help you step back from high-pressure situations, reflect on how the work is affecting you, recognise patterns that may contribute to stress or burnout, and develop more sustainable ways of working.

We’ll arrange a mutually convenient time for a free 15-minute online conversation. This gives us a chance to briefly discuss what has brought you to therapy, coaching or supervision, what you would like to work on, and whether working together feels like a good fit.
We can also discuss the type of work that may be most helpful and the likely frequency of sessions.
